You Are Here: Mid-Norfolk Times

The Mid-Norfolk Times is the new name for The Wayland News which has become the established source of choice for many people seeking community news. The paper came into being in 1996 because it was extremely difficult for small clubs, individuals and organisations who were putting on an event for the community to get good, timely and accurate publicity for their cause. If you were an individual who wanted to start a club for other like-minded people there was almost no chance of getting the word out.It was felt by some that this was contributing to the fragmentation of the community and what was needed was a means of drawing the community together.

With the help of The Watton Chamber of Trade and Commerce who provided the venture capital for the first few issues, Jan Godfrey and Julian Horn launched The Wayland News. Our first issue was just 4 pages and was immediately hailed a success by contributors and readers alike. The Wayland News went from strength to strength and became THE source of Wayland community news and an effective and economic means for advertisers to reach their local customer base. In July 2009 issue The Wayland News went to colour and rapidly grew in size. In November 2009, after a great deal of thought, the name was changed to the Mid-Norfolk Times to reflect the change area covered by the paper.
